Is this literally water from a well?

Do people even still do this?

That was my reaction. When did Atlas become supermajority rural?

The house that I grew up in was on well water when I was a kid, in the 80s.  And it was hardly rural.  A suburb of ~30,000 people.

My standard for a city is a metropolis of 800,000 people, so my point of view is a little skewed. When I see South San Francisco, I think of Deliverance.

You'd have to define use. I've been camping where that was what was available. However, it wasn't for drinking. I think it was basically for showering and basic hygiene. I don't know that I've ever been in a house where well water was used. The concept doesn't sound appealing at all.
