I cast this Arab Scarf into the fire, especially if bought from a Free Palestine stall on the High Street while the leaflets are thrown in the bin, especially if worn over just a t-shirt when it's warm and especially if worn simply to accentuate a plunging v-line neck.

There's something a bit funny about a gnome who wears braces (suspenders), a prancer who wears T-shirts two sizes two small, and a 'libertarian' in a goatee making fun of a fellow's glasses for being too precious.

Nah, mostly it is. Tons of people in my neighborhood wear stuff like that. I don't mind it though.  Those scarves on girls are often pretty hot, which is kind of odd since it's rare a girl can get more hot by covering up more of her body like that.

OK, again, as with the glasses, we come up against the problem that those actually are the most comfortable and practical shoes.  

True, they've become 'hip', but if we eschew simple black plastic framed glasses and Converse All-Stars, we will be stuck with worse glasses and worse shoes.

It is quite different with some items - particularly the tight trousers depicted above.  I mean who could actually wear tight trousers?  Its crazy to suffer discomfort.  But for things which are the best I doubt I'll give them up just because they became too hip any more than I refused to give them up when they were too un-hip.  (yes, I'll admit I have been wearing black plastic glasses and converse continuously from 1976 till the present, except for occasionally veering into the gold metal-framed and boat-shoe subcultures).

Is this Hipster Demolition Night 2005? All of these things which are supposed to belong to the archetypical "hipster" are very mainstream now outside of those idiotic keffiyeh scarfs (which are worn just as often by scene kids), vinyl (which is more of an item for olds and audiophiles) and those thick rimmed glasses.

Hipster trends that need to die:
-tumblr
-obsession with photography
-the Euro mullet
-love of Hipster Runoff, aka the website that created the worst internet speak of all time
-love of fuzzy surf pop
-love of bands with extremely quirky vocals
-neon colored asics/pumas
-extremely tiny/tight t-shirts
-the ironic line-mustache

vinyl (which is more of an item for olds and audiophiles)

I don't think many olds are into vinyl anymore. The standard reaction from an old is "They still make those?" when hearing about records. In addition to hipsters it is more audiophiles as mentioned, hardcore kids, and raver types.
