I don't understand the hype either. People go on and on about his economic populism, but I don't think it's landing the way people seem to think. Despite McCaskill being one of the most unpopular Senators in the country in 2018, Hawley only beat her by 6 points, even in uber-populist, Trump+19 Missouri.
I doubt he has ambitions beyond the Senate anytime soon. If he does ever run, he probably won't get far. Most likely he will be another Harris.
