Apparently the vote was packed with strategic Democrat voters.

Yeah, egged on by Cooter from The Dukes of Hazzard, of all people. I had no idea he'd ever been a Congressman, but apparently he was at one time. He served from Georgia for a while, moved to Virginia, ran against Cantor in 2002, and is apparently pretty (understandably) bitter about how the campaign went.

These people still haven't been made to bear the true consequences of their racism and treason. Now would be a good time as any.

It says a lot that both my Teabagger grandma and my borderline socialist Uncle are celebrating, as am I. Cantor was a piece of work, and he got a nice ass whipping tonight.

This is good for everyone-the GOP's sane faction will now get to bump up Kevin McCarthy or Cathy McMorris Rogers and the Democrats in the House no longer have to deal with Cantor...and Boehnor must be feeling a little bit more secure right now as well.

How is this good for Democrats?  The Republicans are still going to elect a Majority Leader the Democrats will complain about and now the idea of an amnesty bill is quickly going down the s**tter.

My love for political theater aside, I probably would have voted for Cantor if I had a vote in this primary because he's probably the best Democrats had to work with on this.

Democrats may enjoy seeing we Republicans self-destruct, but ultimately having filth like this human trash hold public office is bad for the country altogether. We gain from debate and compromise.

Brat may be too controversial in the fall, but not like Akin/Murdock/Angle. With Cantor's loss, I don't see Boehner being Speaker in 2015. I see the Tea Party's favorite Gowdy, Blackburn (unless she runs for president), Lynn Jenkins or maybe Paul Ryan (unless Ryan runs for president) getting the nod .

Go to hell, and bring your friends with you. These neo-confederate racist gun-whores need to be completely destroyed.
While the Tea Party has long lost favor in my eyes, Cantor wasn't the best option for the GOP...we still have McCarthy, Rogers, etc. Cantor was a dick. A Brutus in the making. A man with no soul. This is for the better.

angus, you subscribe to what I call idiot-populism: the view that anybody is acceptable in office as long as they aren't entrenched. America has been idiot-populist as long as I have been alive, and I have grown to hate it.

Anyone would think that Simfan is unhappy with the outcome of this primary.

McMorris Roders would be an excellent choice, but there's no way the misogynistic racist bigots would ever accept her. It would be a calamity for them. And that is why we need to destroy them.

Cantor routinely blocked Boehner from debate and compromise, though.

I know, but he's better than this piece of dirt.

I had no particular affection for Cantor- indeed, I saw him as something of an obstructionist- but I truly detest how the racist ignorant bigoted neo-Confederate worthless sexist pesterous vermin have been able to ride roughshod over the party. We really must put a stop to them, and then completely destroy them.

Being a black Republican is not always easy. Tongue

Oddly enough, this is now the non-Tea Party candidate for Cantor's seat:

Also, he's writing a vampire novel.

You have grown to hate many things.  This is well known.  Normally I would try to engage your attentions against hate, but I think you enjoy your hate too much to change, so enjoy your hate.

It's a matter of time before these lunatics go completely insane and start supporting something completely deranged, like LaRouche-ism.

The real question is can Cantor run as an independent?

Gotta hand it to the VA GOP. They sure know which races to nominate at convention and which to decide through primary to maximum comedic effect.

He can only run as a write-in. Very difficult and even though it's a safe Republican district, the Democratic challenger usually gets 40% or so and would probably win the seat if Cantor tried to split Brat's vote.

No, Jack Trammell, a college sociology professor, filed to run at the last minute and will be on the ballot.

Maybe they can get him on some technicality? But on the other hand he doesn't look so bad:

Maybe he can smite the racists.

His bachelors is from Grove City, a conservative college.  I wonder if that still in any way reflects his views?  In any case, seems like a cool guy.

Take a look at his website. This is probably the only time that a description of a Congressional candidate has reminded me of you.

Next time you see him tell him that he has a Latin grammatical error on his website.  He lists a "curriculum vita."  This is actually a fairly common error since many folks who know just enough Latin to be dangerous assume that since feminine nouns ending in "a" are pluarized "ae" and since there's only one it must be vita.  While that pluralization rule is true, the phrase "curriculum vitae" (literally, "course of life") consists of the genitive case noun vitae.  In the English language, the genitive case disappeared long ago, so many anglophones are not familiar with it.  Old school ivory tower types, however, understand its use and are particularly offended when smartasses try to be clever and show how much Latin they know and write it as "curriculum vita" and therefore end up making a bigger mistake than those who don't understand Latin at all.  Tell him that it should read "curriculum vitae" and not "curriculum vita" and that it has nothing to do with pluralization.

Really?! I just met a grad from there last Thursday. Nice guy. Never heard of the place before then.

Brat's going on an anti-Semitic rant in his victory speech right now, quoting the Gospels and saying he is with God.
