It's hilarious though that the number of Democrats who prefer Trump exceeds both the number of Democrats who'd prefer Pence and the number of Republicans who prefer Trump.

Must be the "at least Trump is incompetent and threfore can't do that much damage"/"at least Trump isn't a religious zealot" reasoning.

As Hillary voter, I would be head over heels for President Pence right now.

I don't agree with him on, well, anything.  But at least he depicts some manner of calm assurance and sanity, totally unlike Trump.

As to the Republicans, that seems to be about on par for how many are "typical" Republicans (they prefer Pence, were the ones who held their noses and voted for Trump) vs how many are Trump's base. I would say the base is probably more like 35% of the Republicans, but there's a few who aren't technically part of the base he generally appeals to but aren't completely disgusted, either.

As for me, I'm not sure. With Trump, at least nothing is getting passed. Things are chaotic and I'm quite worried about what his claims about the press are going to do long-term (as well as Congress's continual allowance of him to be in office despite the emoluments clause), but Pence would be able to behave like a normal Republican, which means things I disagree with quite strongly would get passed. So I like the current chaos for avoiding horrible things, but I'm afraid it may be setting the stage for the derailment of the country down the line. I would be a "not sure" vote.

That Republicans prefer Pence yet still approve of Trump shows just how strong a drug these people are on.

True. Trump and Pence are significantly different in both worldview and temperament. Their ticket makes little logical sense other than trying to maximize the closepin voters for trump.

Another sad reflection of how bad partisanship is getting is the fact that despite Trump inciting such anger and hatred in the Democrats to the point where they legitimately believe he is a nazi sympathizing racist who will doom us all, democrats still prefer him 4:1 over the guy who might make abortion a little more inconvenient.

Pence is a good man, but he represents the swamp.

Completely disagree. Trump being a loud, stupid, disgusting asshole doesn't actually make anyone's lives worse. Whereas Pence would do TERRIBLE s**t and get away with it because he's doing it the *right* way approved by all the David Brooks and Bill Kristol's of the world.

I hope this poll reaches Trump so he can get upset and start lashing out at Pence.

LOL, this would actually be pretty hilarious.
