Even though the latter is at this point a broad tent coalition and essentially a PRI in the making, I have a hard time seeing how a party which campaigns heavily on social conservatism far beyond MORENA and which is obviously less interventionist than MORENA is “to the left”. Especially when you consider how Mexico’s Bible Belt consistently voted for PAN.

In the recent Indigenous voice to parliament referendum, those who spoke a language other than English at home were less likely to vote yes than those who spoke only English. But referendums do not track 100% with parliamentary elections. Many no voters from immigrant communities are also solid Labor voters, but on social issues such as the voice and the republic they are to the right of the average European Australian.
