Trump is not a protectionist. He is an economic nationalist. He is a huge supporter of free trade with countries like the UK and others that share interests and values with the US. It's about time we stopped pretending that every country can or even should get along and be friends.

In that case, Trump should have been for the TPP, since we share values and interests with Japan and Australia. No, he is a protectionist.
