Running for Vice-President with Bgwah.

Undecided on simultaneously seeking re-election to the Senate.

Just confirming that I accept him as my VP, if necessary.

Kind of. We have Bgwah/Meeker & Afleitch/?Huh running.

Afleitch will have to have a write in campaign because stating he "might" run is not an affirmation.

He said that he "thinks" he'll run, though I suppose that's not an affirmation either. Has this ever happened before, where only one ticket for President declared before the deadline?

Don't think so. Usually there's tonnes of candidates. Hmmmm. How terribly unfortunate. The ballot has been posted. I hope I didn't miss anyone.

Come on, Earl. That's an overliteral interpretation. Andrew is clearly running.

How is it overly literal? He said he was thinking about running. It's not my responsibility to read all the campaign threads to see who is running or not. It is my responsibility to look at this thread to see who is running, and he never said he was.

My fellow Atlasians I'm running for President again - why? Because it's only a game. And no, I don't think i'll win Smiley However because it's only a game, and an elections sim, rather than a government sin in my view. 'The voting booth should never close.'

I've had enough of tweaking with the system. The system, for such a small nation is self protecting and sustaining on a micro scale that emulates the macro-state.

My key platform is simple but far reaching.

1. Transform Atlasian politics with a constitutional amendment to allow for frequent popular referenda on Senate legislation putting people power between the Senate floor and the President's desk.

2. Abolish the regions and allow the people to vote on the size, structure and powers of new federal institutions. You can choose to have a larger or a smaller government.

3. Call for more active public pressure groups and forums on political issues.

4. Maintain financial stability - protect savings and savers.

5. Serve one term only.

And in this new spirit of the open voting booth, I would like anyone who wishes to be my running mate to PM and I'll open a vote on it. If I'm too late or whatever then I will encourage a write in campaign.

He participated in the debate.

The only reason to deny that is to want the invalidation of the presidential election. I'm pretty sure that will finish in a courtroom.

That is a very clear thing. Firstly, he decides than he MIGHT run for somebody. After thought, he decided to run for president. I think is not used like a possibility, but like a precision on an earlier statement.

Sad

Bgwah vs Moderate was shaping up to be one of the most exciting elections in years, IMO. Then he drops out at the last minute and makes it one of the most boring. Sigh.

No, your original decision was right. And not because of the "I think".

Presidential elections are elections for tickets. Afleitch is on no ticket.

Mind you, he'll be by election time. But it will be a write-in ticket. Or more likely several. Grin

I wasn't, but I do know about it. But that had a substantial write-in campaign, at least.

Look at the downballot races here.
