Not entirely sure, but it's pretty polarised, isn't it. And we all know what happens in polarised places during mid-term polls of all kinds.

The title confuses me, as Dudley has now been ahead in 3 or 4 polls in a row.

Since the both of you are outside the US it might be harder to follow more local issues.

For the last 2 years Oregon has had one of the 5 worst unemployment rates in the country, and Dems have controlled Oregon completely for a while now.  Therefore, they are getting the blame for it.  It's been a long time since Oregon's elected a Republican governor.  The "Its time for a change" message is quite useful in those cases

Didn't know "high unemployment" was a difficult local issue for outsiders to understand.

Actually, what I said was it MIGHT be harder to FOLLOW local issues.

Nice job trying to distort my comment.

Ooh - plenty of arrogance and completely misinterpreting what's going on. This guy's a keeper!

From what understand John Kitzhaber wasn't too popular at the end of his last time in office. Compounded by the two facts that the current Governor isn't popular at all as well as Oregon being dominated statewide by the Democrats for quite a while.

Oregon has structurally high unemployment, though (and has done for a while). But obviously that wouldn't help.

Yes it is. We don't have that in Harper's Canada or Sarkozy's France. Thanks a lot for your insights into 'unemployment', timmer. What will you teach us foreigners tomorrow? English?

Timmer was saying that it's unlikely a foreigner would know that Oregon is one of the top states in the country for unemployment. It's was in the top 5 in 2009, not sure if that's true now but it's still bad. Given all the press that CA, AZ, NV, and FL have gotten for their unemployment rates, I don't think it's unreasonable to assume people might not know OR is in the same boat. Few Americans would know it.
