I think he's going to pick someone with the following attributes:

>Is a policy wonk
>Is not an old white man

IMO, he should go for a southern woman.  He needs someone to soften his rough edges to an extent.
Cong. Marsha Blackburn, of Tennessee?

He wouldn't be the greatest choice.

It's a she Wink

Congressman Blackburn would be offended by that.

When can we expect announcements regarding the VP picks? I recall Romney announcing Ryan a couple of weeks prior to the convention, whereas Biden and Palin were picked just days prior to their respective conventions.

My guess: Gingrich learned at some point in the past week that Trump was not going to pick him, and has therefore lost any reason to defend him.

Could well be the case; Newt's ego is bigger than Trump's.

He'd be a good pick. World-famous figure. In fact everyone in the pub last night was debating his vast influence. I understand he's a cult figure in North Carolina? Apparently you can't find a single street that doesn't have a statue or a giant portrait of him.

Some moronic liberal page I like on Facebook has unironically described Trump's list as 'disturbing'. I mean this is a ticket that will have Trump at the top , and of these four the only one who could even remotely be called disturbing is Sessions.

Get the impression that Warren is to the veepstakes of 2016 what Hillary was to the veepstakes of 2008. It's a lot of people's dream ticket but it probably won't happen.

Bayh hasn't been in question since '08.

A figure of the past...though some might say that both presidential nominees are figures of the past too.

Gingrich
Christie
Sessions
Corker
Pence
Burr
Cotton
Thune
Ernst
Fallin

Funny how Thune, despite being years younger and currently holding office, feels (to me at least) more of a yesterday's man than Gingrich.

If Trump picks Gingrich then Clinton should pick Gore, just so we can have two tickets that each have two 90s superstars on them.

PLEASE be Pence so Mitch Daniels can come back and save the day by running for Governor.

Hoping it's an 'entertaining' choice like Warren or Crist instead of Kaine or Vilsack.
