I abstained on the bill that got rid of the Fine Arts, but I feel the debate after the bill was passed caused me to change my mind.  Cutting little things like this out of the budget will not accomplish much.  Also, we should encourage the Fine Arts throughout Atlasia.

My bill did not "get rid of" the Fine Arts, it got rid of the federal funding.

The organizations will just be abolished again when the Budget takes effect, won't they?

Can we not vote to remove that from the budget cuts?

I still feel that arts programs should be funded by philanthropists.

... and not by the taxpayer.  I enjoy art as much as the next Atlasian, but I don't think it's right to force each taxpayer to help foot the bill.  I concur with Senator PBrunsel.

See, education is my soft spot.  I think that the government needs to support education.  If this program were huge I would probably support reducing it, but these programs are incredibly small, so I think we should reinstitute them.

You still haven't answred what the hell does this have to do with education.

It promotes the fine arts, which are an essential part of any complete education.  With more fine arts available in the US, more children may pursure education.

If anything, more education will result in more fine arts being produced, but that is completely illogical.

And do we not need funding for those more fine arts?

Senators have 24 hours to vote or change their votes.

Isn't it tied 4-4?

Sen. Colin is assumed to be absent, since he hasn't posted in a while.

I change my vote to Aye, but I'll be pushing for a large cut in the funding.

It is my position that art does not fall under the perview of government, particularly the federal government. Therefore, at the moment it is my position to veto this legislation.

Siege

But the federal government supports education in many other ways.  Why should the government not support the fine arts?

Well, subsidizing paintings does not really contribute to education in any direct manner.

Then what is next, cutting funding for NPR, PBS, and the Kennedy Center (which the funding was probably already cut for)?

Does Sen. True Independent desire a veto override vote?

Even though I know it's going to fail, Yes, I desire a vote to override the veto.
