The poll cited in the OP (and thread title) had him at 50%.  So if he's at 47% now, what does that tell you?

Krazen, I know you have erectile dysfunction because you mentioned it on your health form that I asked you to fill out and submit at the beginning of the semester.

My advice is this - see a doctor. They have come a long way in regards to ED. Seeing a specialist makes more sense than trying to live vicariously through random governor's approval ratings when they go up. Just because their approval ratings go up doesn't mean you can "get it up" if you catch my drift. Please go see a doctor. I will count it as an excused absence.

The mods of today would have eliminated this post. It just shows that moderating standards have gone down.

The title would seem crazy today and in 2014.

Who would've thought I'd occasionally be longing for the days Al Franken and other MN DFLers were comfortably winning nearly every congressional district, when Independent Strong Man Bill Walker had principles and didn't bother to drop out, when Tom Corbett leapt upward to 50% only to fall flat with 45% on Election Day, when Mark Warner carried Alleghany County by 9% and when Gary Peters landslided Land..

But in all seriousness, I wasn't prepared for Trump to win PA after Wolf convincingly flipped the state just 2 years prior. That really speaks to Corbett's weakness as an incumbent at the time. 45% was probably the best he was ever going to get. Other than him, the GOP governors got extremely lucky that year. A combination of "Ebolagate" and the FL Dems' never-ending ineptitude dragged Rick Scott across the line to a 2nd term in FL. Had Paul Davis not ventured into a strip club in his younger days, he'd be the incumbent governor of KS right now. I could go on and on

Lol, I thought the dude had 50% approval now? Wasn't he the only GOPer to lose 2014 in a tossup state? That's quite an accomplishment.

Lol, 2011 what a time to be alive. People thought Kasich would be crushed in 2014 while Corbett would win

The irony is that Corbett was one of the better Republican governors. And it was considered a major scandal when he said some ridiculous things that are peanuts compared to the God Emperor.

Corbett was making a comeback but 2014 was an upside down yr for GoP in PA, just like KY, MT, AR and LA were favorable to the GOP over Dems

He made massive cuts to education and p*ssed off a lot of PSU alumni during the Sandusky scandal.

No, it was because he was a downright sh*tty governor.

No, it was because he was a downright sh*tty governor.

His "scandals" were: In 2012, a bill was discussed to require women to have a medical examination before an abortion to look at the fetus. It went nowhere, but when asked, Corbett said "well, if you don't like it, just close your eyes". In 2014, he denied to have supported the proposed law. He also once said that, at the time, both incest and gay marriage were illegal. Afterwards, he was slammed for comparing them when his remarks were just taken out of context. Nevertheless, he later apologized and when the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled SSM to be legal, the governor refused to appeal to the ruling (what angered some Republicans).

The claim Corbett cut education funding is actually false. His predecessor Ed Rendell took stimulus money from the Obama Administration into the education budget, knowing these funds would cease in 2011. With the state budget already under pressure, Corbett was unable to replace all federal funding with state money. Sure, education funding was shortened as the end result, but it wasn't Tom Corbett who did it. He did increase state education funding each year of his administration.

Back in the fall of 2014, when I had two months freetime between two jobs, I wrote his German Wikipedia article in detail and researched all of this (it's an awarded featured article). I would take Corbett any day over 95% of all Republicans currently in office. In 2014, Scott, Walker or Brownback much more deserved to lose reelection than Corby.

I feel like it was more that Wolf was a really strong and popular candidate - to some extent, Corbett got unlucky.

Perhaps had things gone his way he could very well have been a senator right now
