It's amazing how jfern figures out a way to turn anything into a partisan attack.

It's also amazing how jFRAUD can't read what he posts links to.  Here is a quote from the article:

I had no idea that Bush was President when he was 19.

Bush was so hammered, he didn't know his own name when he was 19.

Sorry, had to Tongue

When a hurricane wipes out beachfront houses built a few feet above sea level in the Carolinas, for example, people generally blame the local governments for allowing such risky building and bemoan the fact that federal taxes wind up bailing the homeowners out.

Do the state and local governments that allowed people to build below sea level in New Orleans bear any responsibility, or are they too Democratic?

I am not a partisan hack for pointing out how the Bush adminstration made New Orleans more vulnerable to hurricanes. Don't you guys have some sort of standard for President, or is anything Saint Bush does ok with you guys? You guys are ing sheep.

Nice comeback.  What did you expect when you started this thread?  Oh, and before you call others "stupid" you should note that the word is spelled "apologists".

After a year of whining about how much spending has grown during Bush's term, now you complain about Bush not spending enough.  Do you have any ideology other than "Bush is always wrong"?

I actually thought this hurricane could actually turn into a time where the nation could come together and unite to help people. I really hope it is, though a selfish part of me wishes the Democratic leadership runs with this and blows all chance of gaining seats next year. Course, they certainly are not rabid, partisan hacks who seize any and every chance to shoot off their mouth. Here's hoping for a gas leak pal.

Bush made New Orleans weaker. The  I'm going to let him get away for all talking about making America safer while he lets a Hurricane do 9/11 type damage to New Orleans. The levees would have been much higher and stronger if Bush hadn't cut that funding.

Interestingly, the federal government did pay for most of the anti hurricane protection of the 17th Street Canal Levee, the one that failed.  http://72.14.207.104/search?q=cache:Z09lHlW-g20J:app1.lla.state.la.us/PublicReports.nsf/86256EA9004C005986256EDF005716C3/%24FILE/40bf40b3.PDF+%2217th+street+canal+levee%22+construction+-break&hl=en

Cash wasn't a problem; perhaps engineering was?

You might find the PDF better; the information is on p. 12.

The part that always amazes me is that he doesn't even bother to fully read the articles he links to.  If you are going to use a news source to make a point, at least make sure it says what you think it says.

Nah, he reads the titles and posts it. Totally ignores the fact that the facts of the article don't back up his argument.

Wow, you mean that Bush's political appointees at the agency weren't critical of Bush? Who would have thought.

It is perfectly reasonable to make a partisan attack in this case, since the GOP is ideologically opposed to public services.

Of course they are.  They serve the purpose of undermining one's enemy.  But in this case jfern is also making a valid criticism, partisanship aside.

Don't you find it interesting that, in a city where the local Democrat machine could coordinate parish-wide bus and van service to thousands of people from the slums to get to polling places miles off, then hand the sheeple "walking around money", for voting for the right crook, could suddenly lose all that organizational skill when it came time for them to actually govern their city?

And that city has been run continuously by the Democratic Party since the 1870s.

But, let's use jfern's example and not score cheap political points off dying people.

Of course, the problem is that the levee that broke was actually the one "upgraded" and fully funded five years ago.  Something tells me that funding wasn't a problem (my guess it, it wasn't a political problem).
