It's not even so much that each new proposal he puts out is so singularly invasive, though thats the main thing, but each proposal has some massive loophole that, if pointlessly invasive legislation such as his had any effectiveness, it would be nulled by it (the 7/11 type store exception, the you can smoke at 18 but can't buy until 21 exception). It's almost like he's a parody of some awful politician rather than actually an atrocious politician.

Normally I find Oldies comments wrong and lolzy, but he has a point in some sense. Other than Joe Scarbore, the people who have come to Bloomberg's defense on these matters are left-wingers. Not all, obviously, but a lot have, and I can see how he would've expected TNF of all people to embrace some of Bloomberg's proposals.

All of the above, actually, plus his actions in evicting Occupy and his terrible education policy. Oh, and how he handled the bus driver's strike. Bloomberg is the very definition of everything I dislike in a politician. And his stupid attempt to raise the smoking age to 21.

By NYC standards, he's a great politician.

I think he did a great job on transit, rezoning and generally improving the quality of life in the city.  I think if y'all actually lived here, you would care more about the economy and quality of life and less about these media created controversies over the "nanny state."
