The Cardinals begin voting to choose a new Pope Tuesday.

How long will the conclave last and a new Pope is elected?

Please vote and comment should you choose.

2 days.

I believe this conclave will end fairly quickly.  The Cardinals know what the church requires in a Pope at this time, and they will make their choice accordingly and quickly.

I think it will be a lengthy conclave, by which I mean 4 days.  There is no obvious candidate this time and there are quite a few second tier choices if the conclave decides they need to go outside the top tier to break a deadlock.  So 4 days is likely how long it will be, but it could go longer if they really get stuck, not that I think they will.

The conclave that began in 1268 took 33 months to conclude.

Here's hoping these Cardinals do not try to break this record.  Smiley

Obviously longer than one.  Black smoke burled out of the chimney this evening.  I think 3.

Good call.
