It's not surprising that DeMint would endorse Cruz.  He always was exhibit #1 of the philosophy of "It's more important to stand up for your principles and risk not get anything done than to compromise sometimes so as to ensure you make progress towards your goals."  It's why he never had a chance of getting into the Senate leadership and why both he and the Senate are better off for his resigning.  Sanford is afflicted with the same problem, which is why if I could vote in the SC-1 special election, I'd be voting for someone else, not his decision to hike the Argentina Trail.
