Lights-out pitching combined with an offense that absolutely loathes scoring, but a 1-0 win is still a win. Very Raysey start to the season.

Reds RF Nicholas Castellanos instigated a brawl in yesterday's game between the Cards and Reds. He got ejected from the game. This isn't the first flare-up between the two sides (see Phillips v. Yadi in 2010).

What a night for Shohei Ohtani.  Pitches 100 MPH and hits a HR, and leaves the game after 4.2 IP after a collision at the plate on a wild play.  Hope he’s OK.

Oh and what's that? It's Jacob deGrom sharpening what appears to be a large knife, and he's going for Trevor May's throat!

some time later in court....

Jacob deGrom's attorney (me): “Your honor, he threw six scoreless innings and provided HALF of his OWN run support!”

The 2021 MLB All-Star Game (and its associated festivities) and the 2021 MLB Draft will now be in Denver, Colorado at Coors Field.

Dayn Perry at CBS Sports:
Quote
The 2021 MLB All-Star Game is expected to be held in Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies, reports ESPN's Buster Olney. The game is scheduled for July 13.

MLB recently chose to pull the festivities from Truist Park in Atlanta as a gesture of protest over the recent passage of voting laws in Georgia. Those laws are widely perceived to be too restrictive and particularly burdensome toward Black voters. Coors Field previously hosted the All-Star Game in 1998.

Kinda poetic, given that Colorado's voting system is practically what voting-rights advocates' dreams are made of.

Will be back in Wrigley Field for the first time since 2019 tonight. Smiley

The last game I attended was an utter nightmare where the Cardinals effectively ended our postseason hopes with back-to-back home runs off of two pitches in the top of the 9th to tie and then take the lead ... this cannot be worse, even with wearing my mask outside over 10 feet away from anyone.

Dom Smith could end up being better than Alonso. I love them both, of course.

That would be our former poster NYE who happens to be matched up against me and is winning handily mostly thanks to Cole.

The Mets just won a very....unique game. The call on Conforto's "hit by pitch" was the wrong call, but you can't convince me the Mets were going to lose. The Magic was with us ever since Jeff hit that ball skyward.

Joe Musgrove of the Padres no-hits the Rangers.  This is the first no hitter in Padres history.  Every MLB team has had at least one now.

Jacob deGrom goes out there and dominates for 8 innings. He's still throwing triple digits by the end of the game, and he's completely untouchable (well, except for one fastball). And the Mets can't give him a single run. Disgraceful. And it's not as if we don't have offense. Nimmo-Lindor-Conforto-Alonso-Smith-McNeil is honestly one of the best line of hitters in the entire MLB, if not the best (I'd say it is).

But when the reincarnation of Seaver (PBUH) himself is pitching, nothing.

It was funny that I heard the Mets want Turner back, Turner is living in Beverly Hills, Cali changes you, that's why I never want to live in IL again, once you get a taste of Cali you don't want to leave
