I would think you'd be against it, unless you think Obama is a stronger candidate than everyone in the potential Democrat field.

I'm for it because it would force Obama to run even further left, irritating the General electorate even more.

I'm not even sure people care much about left or right. Actually, it might not hurt him at all. People want the feeling that he's "getting something done". I'm really not sure the average person really cares what, though.

Uh... they do. Philosophy does matter to people.

But not the majority.

You don't know that. The US is filled with ideologues.

But the ideologues cancel each other out. Each party is going to get the same 45% of the electorate it always gets. It's the squishy, personality driven 10% that couldn't tell the mideast from the midwest that will decide the election.
