So from now on, you have to control the senate to get any high level judicial nominees confirmed at all?

No, the Democrats will bend over backwards for the next Republican President, again.

The next time we have a Republican president, there won't be enough Dem senators in states he/she won to matter anymore.  From 2000-2008 you had Dem senators in 60% Bush states, so it's 100% understandable that they were less partisan than Republicans currently are.  This goes both ways.  If a Democrat gets 60% in CO and NV in 2020, you can bet Gardner and Heller will vote for 2/3rds of his/her nominees.

This should be the wake up call for those here who think Hillary would be able to do anything  favorable to the left with the Kennedy or Scalia SCOTUS seats unless Dems control the senate and are willing to kill the SCOTUS filibuster for all time and risk a future Justice Cruz.

Regarding Lieberman and CT, didn't Graham vote for Kagan and Sotomayor?  SC has been R since 1976.
