Obviously exit polls aren't actual results, but Gore's % with this demographic seems particularly impressive:

New York: Gore 59% Bush 37%
Pennsylvania: Gore 54% Bush 43%
New Jersey: Gore 58% Bush 39%
Maryland: Gore 56% Bush 41%
Delaware: Gore 58% Bush 41%

Any particular reason he outdid both Clinton 1996 (not Perot, Bush's numbers were usually at or even below Dole's) and Obama 2008 with this group?

Probably the tameness in demeanor, and no women to run against.

Also, I imagine the censorship stuff he, Tipper [who'd have been FLOTUS], and Lieberman engaged in in the '90's and late '80's was probably a plus for all those overbearing hockey moms.

Whereas Bill oozed "predator" all over him, and Obama had to run against Palin, and I bet some segment were off-put by all that "pals with Bill Ayers the terrorist" nonsense.
