Episode 7 : make it about Kylo and an apprentice finding an ancient battle station . Also show the Jedi order having a major schism

Episode 8 : show the full civil war with the star forge and ends with Kylo being betrayed and captured

Episode 9 : Rey helps redeem Kylo and visa versa and they destroy the Star forge and the apprentice

So Basically Kylo is Revan and Rey is Bastilla

No, they should have just filmed the Thrawn Trilogy and everyone would have loved it.

You would have had to recast Luke, Leia and Han to make that work

I don't give a f**k what story they should have chosen to tell as long as the three directors sat down at the beginning and agreed on a coherent narrative instead of each one of them winging it in his own movie.

Maybe. It depends on when they made it and how many differences they wanted to make from the novels.

They probably should have done the Thrawn Triolgy instead of episodes 1, 2, and 3.

Any story that takes place post-Return and is claimed to be canon is bad.

They should have focused more on Life Day.

I always had this idea of an eventual leader of the New Republic who takes over with the aim of destroying and burying the history of both the Jedi and Sith-blaming force users for the galaxy's political turmoil over the centuries, and going mad with power. Thus maybe Luke's Jedi and a resurfaced fledgling organization of Sith and Dark Jedi (maybe still involving Kylo Ren) form an uneasy alliance against a common enemy.

We need a completely new conflict! It might have some similarities to other aspects of the series and elsewhere (in all honesty, I ripped off the idea from 'The Legend of Korra'), but there's potential for new concepts and ideas, right? Maybe the Jedi and Sith eventually unite and ditch the whole dark side-light side thing and really try to find their place in the New Republic, with extremists on both sides still being loyal to their respective order.

That notion has been very faintly touched upon in the franchise, though not nearly fleshed out as much as it could have been. That's the kind of thing I've always wanted to see, ever since I was a wee child fantasizing about what an Episode VII would look like.
