I don't think any song should have equal standing to 'Dixie' in the South.

would delegates find the following amendment acceptable?

Quote
Second Southern Regional Culturally Significant SongsAnthem Act

Section 1
Culturally Significant Songs
1. The second regional anthem of the Southern Region shall be "Old Town Road", written by Lil Nas X.
2. This anthem shall hold equal status to the current anthem, "Dixie" by Daniel Decatur Emmett."The Bonnie Blue Flag" - Written by Harry McCarthy
3. "Oh Susanna"
4. "Take Me Home, Country Roads" - by John Denver
5. "Sweet Home Alabama" - by Lynyrd Skynyrd
6. "The Yellow Rose of Texas"
7. All Songs by Elvis Aaron Presley that made it to Number 1 in the US charts
8. "Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)" - by Louis Prima
9. "What a Wonderful World" - Louis "Satchmo/Pops" Armstrong
10. "Remember the Alamo" - by Johnny Cash

This is a terrible bill, and I urge the South to reject it

Also the talk praising “Dixie” here, is disturbing

SNJC, this is rich coming from you. Would you prefer an amendment that we put a tax on when these songs were played? I urge you to stick to issues in your own jurisdiction rather than poking your nose in Southern Issues. Especially when you provide no meaningful feedback.

So is anyone gonna do anything about the amendment?

I concur, totally. Old Town Road for sole anthem of the South.

As we actually aren't 3 delegates down, I'm going to open this up to a vote on the proposed amendment.

With the amendment the bill will now read:
Quote from:  Amended S.19.2-16
Southern Culturally Significant Songs Act

Section 1
Culturally Significant Songs
1. "Old Town Road", written by Lil Nas X.
2. "The Bonnie Blue Flag" - Written by Harry McCarthy

5. "Sweet Home Alabama" - by Lynyrd Skynyrd
6. "The Yellow Rose of Texas"

8. "Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)" - by Louis Prima
9. "What a Wonderful World" - Louis "Satchmo/Pops" Armstrong
10. "Remember the Alamo" - by Johnny Cash
