@OurRevolution
Congratulations, @MorganLCarroll! @coloradodems have a bright future behind your progressive, people-powered vision!

Colorado Democrats elected former Senate President Morgan Carroll as state party chair Saturday at a central committee meeting in Denver.

“I believe what we need right now is a movement, not just a club, and I believe the Democratic Party should be on the front lines of the resistance — we must adapt or face extinction,” Carroll told Democrats gathered at the Marriott Denver City Center for the party’s biennial reorganization.

Carroll, an Aurora Democrat, won election to a two-year term by a wide margin, receiving 401 votes to 38 votes for Clear Creek County Commissioner Tim Mauck, who stressed the importance of reaching out to rural and suburban Democrats.

“The Republicans will not fix this mess. The unaffiliateds have no infrastructure. Third parties do not have the numbers. So, therefore, in my view, the future of the free world and our constitutional democracy, our civil rights and liberties and our planet are depending on us and the Democratic Party,” she said, and the crowd went wild.

Carroll said it was crucial to make sure everyone felt welcome in the party and vowed to institute what she called a 64-county strategy.

“My hope,” she said, “is to make us the state party that becomes the model for the whole country.” Describing her vision for the party, Carroll added, “What I would like to do to see the state party at the forefront of the resistance, offer one-stop shop place to go where people can find out when, where and how to be engaged every day, not just on elections.”

What happens to the GOP when let's say Trump (hypothetically) loses in 2020? The End of this so-called faction. To build a strong foundation, you need State Chairs, State Leg, Congress, Senate & so on to build it from the ground.

Ron Paul was a fantastic person, I really admired him in 2012 from civil liberties to foreign policy to social issues. He is absolutely nothing like Trump & detests his "steal the oil", "Lets ban Muslims" "Build the wall comments". He is essentially the Anti-Trump. You are not much of an idealogue if you believe in Ron Paul & Trump - You are essentially a Socially somewhat liberal overall Conservative guy who is strongly anti-establishment.

Anyways the fact that Carroll didn't endorse Hillary when everyone did is a good sign & she went & courted the Bernie wing, supported Keith, advocates opening the Dem door for Independents. Ray Buckley has also been very good to the Bernie faction & has in a way hopped over. OurRevolution endorsed Carroll.

The Bernie wing is taking over the party bit by bit & if Brand New Congress/Justice Dems can beat a few House Establishment Dems & win the GE, it will send a chill down the spine of the so-called Dem leadership !

Unrelated - Michigan Party Gradual Takeover

 An estimated 5,000 Michigan Democrats rallied Saturday at a state party convention in Detroit, an energetic – and at times chaotic – gathering of longtime members and new activists.  As they regroup for the 2018 election cycle, they vowed to fight Republican President Donald Trump.

The turnout – the largest February convention attendance in modern history, according to officials – came despite an uncontested race for state chairman, which saw Brandon Dillon of Grand Rapids win re-election without a challenger.

Dillon was the only chair candidate who submitted signatures to run by the noon deadline, and he was nominated by several prominent Sanders supporters, including new Democratic National Committee member Michelle Deatrick of Superior Township and activist Lena Thompson of Detroit.

Liberal activists inspired by Vermont U.S. Sen Bernie Sanders, a former presidential candidate and democratic socialist, looked to make their mark on the party by targeting a number of lower-tier party positions. They boasted a series of wins in caucus races and seats on the state central committee, the party’s main decision making board.

Michigan for Revolution, a youth-led group that has vowed to take on the party “establishment,” scored an early convention win when lead organizer Kelly Collison was elected chair of the state party’s progressive caucus.

Mays, a non-politician herself, won election Saturday as environmental caucus chair. She was endorsed by Michigan to Believe In, a Sanders-inspired group that worked with organized labor on a joint “progressive unity slate” of convention candidates.
