Story here

Davis worked the campaigns for George W. Bush and John McCain, where he created some decent ads and gained acclaim. However, he is also the man behind some of the most notoriously bad political ads from the past few cycles. Carly Fiornia's Demon Sheep, Christine O'Donnell's "I Am Not a Witch", and Pete Hoekstra's racist Super Bowl ad that doomed his campaign were all Davis's doing.

With so many Republicans running, Republican-leaning political talent has to be running pretty thin.  This is a big get for Kasich's PAC (not, as your headline suggests, his actual campaign - the PAC hired Davis).  Having Fred Davis in charge of media strategy is better than having a neophyte or real nobody.  It's also a good sign that he's actually running.

Fixed the title. And "Fred Davis is better than nothing" is surely a ringing endorsement Smiley.

It's a sign he's running, but that was never really in doubt at this point.
