I'm wondering if anyone knows of a detailed breakdown of the percentage of people in each congressional district in terms of their dependence on government spending, excluding age based programs such as social security and medicare, but including foodstamps, TANF, state welfare programs, county aid to indigent, housing aid etc.
Such a breakdown would probably provide some insight into why certain areas are so much more likely to support or oppose certain candidates.

well, I'll give you a hand say say that the top 50 or so are all likely in California.  We have close to a third of all the Nation's welfare recipients despite having only like 12% of the population.
