I would like to thank Gustaf for appointing me to this post, and the Senate for completing the confirmation process so quickly.

The first matter at hand is the special election in district 3.  I would be happy to administer this election, if the candidates so desire.  However, since alternate arrangements have already been made- Ilikeverin has agreed to administer the election- I have no problem with deferring to Ilikeverin for this election.  I will leave this up to the candidates.

As Secretary of Forum Affairs, my primary goal will be to bring organization to the forum.  The most critical issue, in my opinion, is getting a seperate board in place for the Senate.  I would like to hear from the citizens regarding the best way to accomplish this.  Obviously, this requires action from Dave Leip.   I would be willing to e-mail Dave on behalf of the forum to make this request.  I would like some input regarding what the e-mail should say.

Another organizational function I would like to accomplish is getting all the Regional constitutions easily accessible from one place.

If there are any matters any of you would like to be addressed by the Secretary of Forum Affairs, please post them in this thread.

Thank you,
Fritz

Okay, now that we have the voter list posted (which I will update from time to time), please allow me to turn this thread back to its intended purpose: matters for my office to handle.

Having heard no response from the candidates in the district 3 election, I assume they wish to go ahead with Governor Ilikeverin administering the election (which he has posted on another thread, will begin at noon tomorrow).

I would like some response regarding the matter of setting up a seperate board for the Senate.  Any forum member's input is welcome.

Here is a draft of an e-mail I propose sending to Dave.  Suggestions for improvement are welcome:

Dear Dave,

It has been discussed at some length on the Fantasy Elections board, that we need a separate board for our fantasy government to conduct its business.  Under the current conditions, threads created for the purpose of government business- i.e.; Senate votes- are getting lost in the shuffle.  Please add an Atlas Fantasy Government board, to compliment the Atlas Fantasy Elections board.

This e-mail has the signature of the following Atlas Forum members:

If you recall, Governor, I offered to put the Governor elections on the same ballot as the Senator elections.  You turned me down, because of resolutions you also wanted on the ballot.  I am not going to be administering the Governor elections.  I assume you will be in charge of that for your region.

Check your region constitution for candidate filing deadlines, I don't think there is one.

The lists of registered voters, on the second and third posts of this thread, have been updated.

Members who previously had an asterisk by their name, and did not vote in the last election, were removed from the lists.

I have put new asterisks by member names, indicating who will be eliminated if they do not vote in October.

I was a little more ruthless with the asterisks this time.  Basically everyone who did not vote in the last election has been given an asterisk, unless:

1. The member voted in one of the special elections held in July, or

2. The member registered to vote in July or August (which is being somewhat liberal with this, but I had to put the cut-off somewhere), or

3. The member was an official candidate for office in the last election (I think this qualifies as participating in the election, even if they failed to vote).

Fritz, would it be possible to provide me with a list of those who now hold an asterisk along with those who previously held one and were deleted?

JFK, I just remembered...I did too keep a record!  DUH, Sorry about that....

These are the members who had asterisks on the previous voting lists, and are now eliminated:

Dunn*   P   NY
Esteban Manuel*   D   PA
PollsareCool*   I   MA
Klrbzzz*   I   KY
Apostle*   JCP   WA
Jravnsbro*   R   SD
Neil A*   I   OR
NickSmith52*   D   OR

As for who has asterisks now, just look at the current list.  Smiley

Okay, okay, updated.  Geez.

There has been a rather major change in my life recently- I have finally become employed, for the first time since joining the forum.  So I am now spending 40 hours a week at the office, as I'm sure most of the rest of you do.  So, now that I have a life, I'm not spending nearly as much time in the Forum as I used to.  However, I still expect to carry out all of my duties as SOFA and Democratic Party Chairman.

You are probably correct in that lcswoosh is inactive and will not be returning.  In fairness, however, when I place an asterisk next to a voter's name, I give them until the next election before deleting their name (and if that happens to be 5-6 months since last post, so be it).  The exception is voters who have actually deleted their accounts from the forum, as is the case with Philip and TomatoSoup.
