I do like legal dramas though. I don't remember the name of the one with Hepburn and Tracy but it was pretty good.

That I don't remember/know of.  Again, I've only recently gotten into older films (for the reason i mentioned earlier).  I mean, I've seen many of the classics...and what not, but beyond that...just starting to get into...in depth.

Name sounds familar.  Haven't seen though.

I think my favorite old movie...is the Maltese Falcon...closely followed by Strangelove...the legal dramas I previously mentioned are in my top 10.

well, I was in the mood for To Live and Die in L.A., but, of course, it's not available for streaming on Netflix...

...and neither is The Secret of My Success

Yes, Netflix is doing a great disservice to its customers by not wasting bandwidth hosting movies everyone has seen and are on television all the time.

it takes more bandwidth streaming movies everyone has seen than it does streaming movies fewer people have seen?  wow, how things have changed since I took digital processing back in 1988, back then, we never heard of the correlation between bit-bloat and the number of viewers.  probably some quantum physics observer-effect thingy

Of course it takes an equal amount money to stream movies people haven't seen as ones people have.

The difference is that most people are not likely to watch a movie they have already seen or pay $10 a month to watch a movie that's on cable all the time.

Your Highness

I guess low expectations saved the day here because I didn't think it was half bad... but of course I didn't pay to see it.

Tough call... both of them look really good in it. I've never seen Zooey's breasts look as big as they do in this. Lief better go check it out.

Zooey is always hotter than Portman.  Zooey even looks good in poorly shot Shamayalan flicks.

I'd rather make out with Zooey but I'd prefer Portman for the love making.

It has Alison Brie in it, so it's probably worth watching just for that.

Battlefield Earth.

It was on Encore last night as part of a tribute to John Travolta (how sad...)...

Probably one of the 10 worst films I've ever seen, but at least it was entertainingly bad.

I'm still on my Pedro Almodóvar kick.  I've just checked out the very last one of his that they have.  It's called "La Ley del Deseo."  I haven't seen it yet, but the description sounds intriguing:

Pablo and Tina have complicated sexual lives. Pablo writes and directs plays and films; he's gay and deeply in love with Juan, a young man who won't reply to Pablo's affection or letters. Pablo's sibling Tina is a transsexual, angry at men, raising Ada, and trying to make it as an actress. Pablo takes up with Antonio, a youth who becomes jealous of Pablo's love for Juan. Antonio seeks out Juan, and violence leads to Pablo's grief and a temporary loss of memory. When memory returns, he learns that Antonio has taken up with Tina. In horror, he hurries to Tina's rescue and must face Antonio and his desire.

Something for the whole family.  I can't wait!

Secretariat (2010, Diane Lane, John Malkovich, Dylan Walsh)

thumbs up, nice to see this horse remembered, brings back memories...yes, even 5-6 year olds can remember this horse...it was during a time that Derby was a VERY BIG DEAL and just about all of america watched it.  That horse was every where in the news

---

The Godfather  (1972, Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Robert Duvall, Sterling Hayden, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Abe Vigoda, John Cazale)

great cast, great movie (very little language and only one or two scenes that have to be edited for the kids)

I didn't know someone could wear out a dvd...but apparently Gramps has done that to his copies of Brokeback.
