USA predicted to stay number one economy for the foreseeable future.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-03-15/china-faces-significant-hurdles-to-become-biggest-global-economy/100912398

Not to mention the Ukrainian war which will see China join Russia, North Korea, Iran, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Burkina Faso, Togo, Eswatini in forming a "dark web" of countries.

Mongolia gets free membership through geographical location alone.

And Serbia are mailing in their application shortly delivered by horse drawn cart (Serbia are considering replacing the horses with stubborn mules).

If China falls foul of the Western World with assisting Russia fight Ukraine, then a boycott on Chinese goods will see them plummet in terms of economic growth.

So much talk about how much China would suffer from a boycott of their goods, and no mention whatsoever of what will happen in the West as if it will have no effect there. This is rather delusional. You thought the inflation and supply shortages were bad now, you ain't seen nothing yet! What happened in March 2020 with masks and hand sanitizer will be seen for everything, and then several months later prices will stabilize far above where they are now. Everyone knows that midterm elections are in 8 months, and this is a sure way for Democrats to get utterly destroyed. Americans might tolerate higher gas prices for a bit because the news on TV keeps showing Russia bombing Ukraine, but there's no way they will tolerate severe supply disruptions and inflation to make a statement against China, who hasn't done anything in the war.

No need to quote if you are 2nd posted in a thread.

The White House has threatened China with consequences if they assist Russia. That is all that is reported at this stage.

Both "threatened" and "assist" in that sentence are, of course, rather flexible terms.

China's not necessarily a place I'd want to live, but there are things they do better than the United States, like high-speed rail.

Careful, for daring to acknowledge China has done something better than the US, you are a Xiist.

Chinese men arrested for cowardly attack on women in restaurant after they refused their sexual advances.

*** Warning - Pretty Savage ***

Women Bashed in Chinese Restaurant

https://youtu.be/Lu6WiqxfKB4

With the advent of CCTV comes some ugly truths about humanity.

This is a PR disaster for China now spreading globally on news media.

Both this and the bashing in Perth 2 months ago highlight issues with misogyny with men in 2022. Maybe it's not a cultural issue and simply caused by crystal methamphetamine use amongst 20 y.o. men. Who knows?

Will be very interested to see what jail terms they get.

Since then, police presence at popular nighttime gathering places reached Tiananmen levels. Many of them were blaring loudspeakers telling men to behave among women, or else.

The things who attacked the women will most assuredly be thrown to the wolves.

OTOH, the propaganda authorities are quick to frame the incident as purely one of criminality that merely deserves a harsh police response, and not one of misogyny that requires a cultural response. They even claim that calling the incident a sexist attack is unpatriotic, as it's importing an SJW culture from a hostile foreign country.

Chinese Ambassador to Australia hints that Japan might attempt to invade Australia again after they didn't apologise the first time.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-01-10/china-ambassador-australia-xiao-qian-coal-trade-embargo/101840556

Only problem is, they didn't invade Australia. We chased their ass back over PNG and the US neutralised, or should I say, absolutely obliterated their navy.

I am saying it right now: I no longer want to move to China. I think I can acknowledge that many of the things I fear MIGHT happen in the United States are already the case there.

Looks like a holiday to visit the Great Wall of China is off the cards.

It was much more interesting in the 15th century.

It isn't really true that you can see it from outer space, btw.

it doesn't make any sense that it would be the only man made thing that can be seen from space.  It's brown on a brown back ground.  Whereas modern highways are silver/grey and 50 times wider.

at least 200 years before anyone could actually know, from wiki
Quote
The claim that the Great Wall of China is the only man-made object visible from the Moon or outer space has been debunked many times,[1][2][3] but remains a common misconception in popular culture.[13] According to astronauts Eugene Cernan and Ed Lu, the Great Wall is visible from the lower part of low Earth orbit, but only under very favorable conditions.[14]

Different claims were historically made for the factoid that the Great Wall is visible from the Moon. William Stukeley mentioned this claim in his letter dated 1754,[15] and Henry Norman made the same claim in 1895.[16] The issue of "canals" on Mars was prominent in the late 19th century and may have led to the belief that long, thin objects were visible from space.[17] A viewer would need visual acuity 17 000 times better than the norm to see the Great Wall from the Moon.
