Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow! And you thought you were getting rid of Santorum, right? Six more years! Six more years!

SCRANTON -- After claiming that he has been the target of endless attacks from far left groups, Bob Casey issued a brief statement ending his Senate candidacy today. Speaking from his campaign headquarters in Scranton, the State Treasurer apologized to Senator Chuck Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, the two men who worked tirelessly to get Casey to be a candidate, for his sudden decision. Casey thanked his family and countless supporters for their help in a race they were "winning" but it has gotten to be "too much" for him and his family life.

While two other candidates, Chuck Pennacchio and Alan Sandals, remain in the race, Casey stated that he has contacted Kate Michelman concerning a write in campaign during the primary. A close aide to Michelman said that the former President of NARAL will accept and thanks Casey for his support. Rumor has it that Sandals will drop out and endorse Michelman while the Pennacchio says that he is "in until the end." Michelman is said to be planning an announcement for sometime next week in Philadelphia with Governor Rendell and Bob Casey.

Other candidates who were considering an entry into the Senate race before Casey such as former Congressman Joe Hoeffel and former State Treasurer Barbara Hafer quickly joined in support for Michelman. Hoeffel, who was stopped for comment after speaking at a local event, noted that Michelman is a "strong defender of women and will easily end Santorum's time in the Senate."

What a superb day!  I was told earlier that her majesty Elizabeth II passed away.  I must be too gullible.
