A new Public Policy Polling (D) survey finds Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) leads State Rep. Grier Martin (D), 45% to 30%, and tops UNC basketball coach Dean Smith (D), 41% to 35%, in hypothetical general election match-ups for U.S. Senate.

However, just 45% of North Carolina voters approve of the job Dole is doing in the U.S. Senate.
