He disabled his Twitter, and the rumor on Twitter is that he was duped by 4chan trolls who had someone posing as a Kavanaugh victim(!).  Avenatti himself denies that though:

https://twitter.com/jaketapper/status/1044679422077554689

Avenatti to run for president in 2020 has dropped sharply on PredictIt.  Before today, they had him at 60% chance of running.  Now have him down to 37% chance.

He really is a lot like Trump. This tweet sounds like something he would write as it borders on being incoherent babbling. I don't hate the guy though. He is actually pretty amusing, but he definitely should not be a candidate for political office!

Avenatti says he shut down his Twitter because of threats:

There may be some parallels between Avenatti and Ben Carson, as people who haven't held office but got publicity for a willingness to fight the president. Carson seems to be better as a doctor than Avenatti is as a lawyer and has a more compelling biography, but it may be a template for Avenatti.

Michael Avenatti is clearly far more intelligent than Ben Carson who seems to be something of a genuine idiot savant.

Because Avenatti is a celebrity lawyer who only seeks media attention.

You say he shouldn't be a candidate, but you know what he thinks about your opinion. The fact is that he may play a sizeable role in the future years of Democratic Party. Like Trump plays in GOP. Sign of the (political) times.

Whatever Avenatti is or isn't here, Trump is also a lowlife admitted serial sexual assaulter, and Avenatti isn't.   Any attempt at equivalence here also has to take that into account.

He's not necessarily the first person I'd vote for in the primary, but people are underestimating him. "When they go low, we hit back harder" is a stroke of brilliance and the Democratic Party would beenefit from practicing that.

I didn't know until recently that Avenatti finished first in his class at GW Law while taking classes by night and clerking by day. I've never heard of anyone accomplishing that before, especially at that highly ranked of a law school that was no doubt full of gunners studying eight hours a day for three years. He's clearly brilliant.

Part of me thinks the Swetnick allegation is fake(it seems too fantastical and perhaps characteristic of a false allegation), though the others are real. If so I'd be angry at Avenatti for tainting the other allegations and undermining legitimate accusers, as well as levelling false allegations to gain attention and boost his own image. I am open to being persuaded otherwise about the Swetnick allegation if people think it is true.

Probably the second most likely Democratic nominee at this point (after Warren). I would not completely write him off in the general election either.

This is going to go down like the "Kanye West will be the Democratic nominee" posts. Democrats aren't as stupid as Republicans.

Senate Democrats are mad at Avenatti for his role on the Kavanaugh issue, and he takes a swing back at them:

Avenatti dings Booker over Booker's "I have nothing personal against the president" argumentation:

I can see Democrats being dumb enough to nominate this guy and then being shocked when Trump wins 350+ electoral votes

VA and CO would not vote Trump, even over Avenatti.

I really don't think a 2.5% swing is out of the question with regards to the Creepy porn lawyer, especially with all his baggage(if you don't think think his having to pay a settlement for firing pregnant women or his being sanctioned by the Bar association will not be constant ad fodder you are mistaken)

Yeah, and Trump's the creepy porn billionaire. I don't think in an environment as polarized as this one it would make such a difference. A 'generic' R could probably pull it off, though.
