"but HILLARY!"

-Summary of the 2016 Republican National Convention

jfern must be cheering loudly right now.

I'm not so sure. This convention should show liberals how scary the world of Trump is. Hopefully the undecideds at home also get turned off by all the hatred and negativity.

What does this crowd have to do with liberalism?

Question: Is it normal for nominees to show up at their own convention on the last day, like Trump is doing?

Yep. They used to not even show up at all (back in the days when these things mattered).

Ted Cruz:  "In November, vote your conscience".  Hahahaha.  YES

This is pretty much the opposite of endorsement. I would use it in commercials by a pro-Hillary PAC.

Cruz just signed his political death certificate.

Not if Trump really bombs in November. He now has more of a vested interest in this happening than ever.

Did he...did he just not endorse him?!

I'm at work, what's going on??

It was made 10x more pointed when the New York delegation started shouting "endorse Trump!" And then the whole convention went nuts (mixed cheers and boos) when everyone realized he wasn't going to do it.

Had they eaten it up, it would have just been a powerful convention speach, and it would be up to pundits to point out that he did not endorse. This way it is a scandal.

This is great. If the GOP does actually put up Cruz against Clinton in 2020, her re-election is in the bag too!

Let us not go that far at this point. This election is what matters now.

Well, there is still some Cruz crowd in the convention. They could make Trumpīs acceptance speach interesting.

I mean, they should have offered him the Rubio deal: pre-tape and stay in Texas Smiley

Oh yeah, I'm sure that's what Cruz meant, Newt...

Some things are better ignored. One should not dig a deeper hole.

Well, they were pissed. And they wanted revenge. At any cost, I guess.

At this point it may be prudent for Romney, Kasich, Bush and other Republicans to endorse Johnson. Why?

Simple.

Endorsing Johnson will prevent Trump from winning, and avoid the incoming decimation of the GOP. Clinton will become POTUS, GOP wins 2018 midterms and set themselves up for redistricting in 2020, securing the next decade in the House. Electing Trump will mean massive losses in 2018 and 2020, to a point where I'm not certain the GOP will be able to regain footing given demographic trends.

They could make the endorse as an attempt to protect the country from Trump and Clinton. Endorsing him may be enough to get him on the debate stage if not win a state.

Kasich still thinks in terms of a political future. But, yeah, the rest of them have nothing to lose and everything to gain from going for Johnson.

I mean, the guy voluntarily chosen to be Trumpīs VP nominee. That is a revealed preference. Should I say, that is a revealed sexual preference?
