I'm interested in finding out what others believe would be the conditions necessary. I think the United States would have to enter a situation where it no longer sees itself a hegemon (which barring a destructive war would require the loss of perceived economic superiority for several decades, I would surmise). I'm curious if there would be conditions before such a scenario would occur that would precipitate the US to join it.
