So is there any actual evidence of this or what?

Is there ever for any politician accused of these things?

See Craig, Larry and Massa, Eric.

I was thinking I'd like Maddox or Cobb better, but nah. Ivey will be the finest governor of Alabama so far.

Uh, I don't think that there was ever concrete proof even for them. They never admitted they were gay.

So just a whisper/smear campaign, then?

95% chance it's just a whisper campaign (it isn't gonna work.) Unless evidence surfaces that indicates otherwise, that's what we should assume.

I think Roy Moore should primary her. I can't see myself supporting this.

What lesbian would support Roy Moore openly? then again, what alcoholic would not support Roy Moore??....
The same lesbian that signed a bill alllowing faith based adoption agencies to refuse gay couples.

Internalized self-hate exists. She can very well be anti-LGBT in her policies being a lesbian.

Don't know or care if she is gay.

Or, more likely, if she is a lesbian, she doesn't think these things affect her (because she's not looking to adopt or get married and is politically powerful enough and wealthy enough that she doesn't really need to worry about things like job or housing discrimination, etc.) and is mostly out for her own personal interests in her political alignments rather than group interests. There are certainly LGBT people who justify support for Republicans this way; they don't say the Republicans are better for LGBT people, they just say that they literally don't care about LGBT issues because, by and large, the big LGBT issues don't affect them personally. Caitlyn Jenner is a classic example. Of course, if something changed and one or more of the major LGBT rights issues did start affecting them, they'd change their tune rapidly out of personal interest, but they're too self-absorbed to realize that such an effect is pretty likely to happen someday.

Or she could not even really be out to herself. Those types of people exist, especially among older people.

Or this could just be a smear campaign, occam's razor and all that.

Gay Alabama lawmaker suggests governor is lesbian; Ivey calls it 'disgusting lie'

"Paid liberal political hacks" are behind this allegation, according to the Ivey campaign. Should Atlas fire back?

I endorse Roy Moore for governor, so Walt Maddox can beat him by double digits in the general.

Bumping this thread, because we need somewhere to discuss AL-Statewide results.

Ivy shoving aside all opposition, while it looks to be a close race on the dem side.

Where would Cobb be running up the score?

I'm presuming Maddox will be doing extremely well in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham.

As it stands now with 30%, Maddox is over 50 and winning in the north, Cobb is doing well in the wiregrass/Blackbelt/Montgomery region. Ivey is also barely over 50, she is losing the Huntsville region to its popular former mayor.

Those were just the early results. It looks like the only Black Belt counties she is going to win are Montgomery and Lowndes County.

Unoficial results:

Fields' district was in Cullman county (wonder how he got elected there).  Also interesting how Cobb did very well in some counties in the Black Belt and very badly in others.

Seems like generally Maddox dominated in the Black Belt counties in the victinity of Tuscaloosa while those further away were competitive. But yeah, she did a lot better in the Black Belt than I expected considering her endorsement of Sessions. I actually expected Maddox to nearly sweep the counties, except for maybe a few stray very white/very rural ones.
