UGH no wrong way, we should be moving in the direction of legalisation of drugs not more prohibition that has been proven to not work. Disappointed in NZ here.

The issue is prohibition (even famously disastrous examples) does "work" in the sense that it does normally cause a reduced amount of whatever you're disincentivizing. A lot of people will always follow the law as guidance, a lot of people are not going to take up something if it is very inefficient and hard to access. The question is, when you're prohibiting something, are the side effects worth it?
