In all seriousness: A very tragic case and I hope these thugs get the toughest punishment possible. Immigration/Asylum policy is one of the few issues I am not that socially liberal and at odds with Merkel and my own party, the SPD. But it is no secret that a lot of refugees look at women like a piece of meat, which is disgraceful. I'm reading of sexual assault few times a week in the local newspapers, with some really cruel (like the Siegauen rape last year).

Very similar to the recent case of Maria Ladenburger, who got also raped and killed by an - Afghan - asylum seeker (who faked being a juvenile when entering the country in 2015):

The most tragic thing about this case was that this sick guy already attempted to throw a young woman off a cliff in Greece two years before. Or he actually did, but she had luck and survived and recovered. He even got imprisoned in Greece and later came to Germany after a mass clemency due to massive overcrowded Greek prisons. That just came out later and the two Greek police officers who arrested him in the first place came as witnesses before a German court. That thug should have never been allowed to get in. Another tragic fact is that this wonderful girl was engaged to help refugees.

However, it should be noted though, that asylum seekers from African countries have a far higher crime rate than Syrians for example. Especially sexual assault and rape. But neither case is acceptable, no matter whether Syrian, African or native German.

One very simple question is how offended you were when Europeans, Christians, Jews, etc. committed acts of violence and collective punishment against Iraqis, Syrians, Palestinians, etc., systemically and at large scale in the last 15 years.

If the answer is "gave no f***s", this is merely racism.

According to Tagesschau, the suspect from Iraq will soon (or has already) extradite him back to Germany for a trial.

Now that the refugee policy is again in the news, Merkel and Seehofer again clash over rejecting asylum seekers at the border. Seehofer wants to reject them, while Merkel wants a broader European solution.
