democrat governor mike easley leads republican challenger patrick blantine, 52-42, according to a new tarrance group poll.  the poll consisted of 600 'potential' voters and was conducted july 25-27.

not bad numbers for ballantine.  i think he can win.  however,  he is facing a heavily financed incumbent.  thanks to the 'governor easley protection act' passed in the wee hours in the closing days of the general assembly short session, no outside money can be spent in the race with 60 days or less to go till the election.  therefore, the republican governors association will not be a factor in the race.

Picking a young man was a good decision by GOP voters.
