What % of the electorate in Rochdale is likely to be Muslim?

The population is 30.5% Muslim (2021 census), the 18th highest in the country. The figure for the electorate is probably a little lower than that.

(Batley & Spen, for comparison, is 23.1% Muslim.)

Ah.
So sizable. But definitely not the majority or anything close.

All this is in line with a single-minded focus on (even the mere appearance of) anti-Semitism from Starmer. To the exclusion of anything else.

The comments reported recently just seem in line with what has been reported by mainstream media (that there was an intelligence failure). Labour's problem is that they couldn't have picked anyone who was supportive of Starmer's line on Israel without that defining the by-election, so presumably they picked someone who would neutralize the issue (in their hopes). But now the news will be entirely defined by their mushiness on Gaza.
This really sounds like an unforced error.

The Tories are down to just 349 seats in Commons.

Azhar Ali got just a bit less than 3,000 votes.

Galloway is praising the returning officer effusively. However, he said the councilors "have to go".

Does Tully now run in the GE with his numbers being as good as they were?
Now is probably the time for him to do that if he ever is to do so.

One has to imagine he's now going to be approached by the Greens for some seat, since they basically backed him here with results.

They backed the guy who got 1.5%.

Oops, got te indies confused. My bad.
The Greens disowned the official Green candidate, didn't they?

Yeah and they endorsed a different indie. I thought Tully was that indie for a moment before rechecking the Teale guide.

Are any more by-elections possible in this Parliament?
