If there's one good thing about the Trump administration, it's that he's soiled the reputation of nationalism for at least a generation. If he would have lost, it would have only emboldened the alt-right to regroup and run a much more slick and competent nationalist in 2020 or 2024. Nationalism also likely would have taken a much greater stronghold in Europe, especially in France, Austria, and the Netherlands.
