Day 1: Make American Republican Again?

Former Republican Candidate Donald Trump made a surprise appearance at the first day of the Republican National Convention. A disgraced Republican, the majority of moderates and conservatives alike booed the businessman as he entered the stage. This backlash is mostly due to Trump exclaiming that Republicans have failed America. Leaked reports showed that due to lack of funding and support, Trump was unable to hold a MAGA Convention, which has caused him to come crawling back to the Republican Party. The majority of the Republican Party had seemed to decline him, as he was booed throughout the speech.

Day 2: Blast From the Past

Former Vice President John McCain's speech at the 2016 Republican convention was well received. As both McCain and former President George Bush skipped the 2012 Convention for various reasons, this is the first time either of the top two members of the Bush administration have showed up to the RNC since 2008 when McCain lost to Obama. John McCain's speech about close friend Susan Collins was the best received speech of the night, in comparison to other keynote speakers such as Paul Ryan or Mitch McConnell. It's reported that former President George W. Bush didn't attend the convention due to health issues relating to his father, former President George H. W. Bush.

Day 3: From Nevada

Nevada governor Brian Sandoval formally accepted the nomination for Vice President on the third day of the convention. History was made as Sandoval was the first Latino person to ever be nominated by a major political party.

Day 4: The Way Life Should Be

Former Secretary of State Susan Collins was introduce by Nevada Senator Dean Heller on the fourth night of the Republican National Convention. History was again made, as Collins was the first female to ever head a major political party ticket.

Due to Collins' views, I would likely vote for the Constitution Party nominee or hopefully a Evan McMullin-type who would run as an Independent (even though I know I would be throwing away my vote). I imagine many other conservatives (not a lot, but a relatively-sized portion) could also not reconcile this fact with Collins and would either abstain, vote None of the Above, or vote for a third-party conservative. Nothing to do with the nominee's gender or ethnicity (I, personally, would love to see a female conservative president ASAP), I just couldn't vote for her.

Wow. I’d be a lean Collins voter in this timeline. We will see how the Democratic Convention goes though.

July 22nd, 2016
Ahead of the Democratic National Convention, Nominee Bernie Sanders picks New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand as VP.

At a rally in Richmond, Virginia, presumptive nominee Bernie Sanders announced, days prior to the Democratic National Convention in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, that New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will appear alongside him on the Democratic ballot this November.

Elected in 2009, Kirstin Gillibrand succeeded Hillary Clinton’s spot as Clinton became Vice President. Gillibrand’s pick was a clear appeal to moderate democrats and fans of Vice President Hillary Clinton.

July 23rd, 2016
Over 30,000 Emails from the Democratic National Committee Leak
Wikileaks released over 30,000 private DNC emails just a day prior to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. The emails list a barrage of information, especially from DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. It was revealed that Schultz called President Obama a “damn lair” prior to Hillary Clinton’s campaign suspension. The emails revealed that in 2014, President Barack Obama promised Vice President Hillary Clinton full support in a presidential bid, however changed his mine in the early primaries following the email scandal. The emails also revealed that several white house officials “suggested” the DNC support a Biden nomination. Schultz emailed several other members of the Democratic National  Committee, stating “Joe Biden will become president over my f**king dead body.” Emails throughout the primaries reveal the DNC Chairwoman and several other prominent DNC officials attempted to undermine Secretary of State Joe Bidens campaign numerous times, just to “spite” President Obama.

It’s reported that Vice President Hillary Clinton is beyond furious with President Obama. Withdrawal of support plus pressuring the DNC to support Biden has distanced the the two considerably, and it’s reported that the Vice President refuses to speak to or even acknowledge President Barack Obama. One White House worker stated that “Hillary feels as if Obama took the presidency from her. Twice.”

President Obama has called for the immediate resignation of Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Secretary of State Joe Biden has yet to release a statement, but Senator Bernie Sanders stated that "Any attempt to undermine a campaign is threatening to democracy. Any support our campaign received was beyond unneeded."

Day 1: A Surprise Closer

Secretary of State Joe Biden gave a surprise keynote address on the first night of the Democratic National Convention. Secretary Biden volunteered to give his address on the first night, the spot originally supposed to be for former President Bill Clinton. A spokesperson for the Hillary Clinton campaign stated that the 43rd president felt "a sudden" sickness prior to the convention and canceled just hours before his speech was supposed to be given. Joe Biden was supposed to give his keynote address on the second night, immediately after Vice President Hillary Clinton.

Vice President Hillary Clinton was escorted off the stage at the DNC as a brawl broke out during her speech on the second night. The Vice Presidents seemingly final political speech was cut short due to this. Her speech was given at a critical moment right after Bernie Sanders won the nomination outright on a first ballot. A brawl broke out between Sanders and Clinton supporters as the Vice President subtly endorsed the Republican nominee Susan Collins. At least 12 were injured in some way, with one being critically injured after receiving a stab wound. Two arrest have been made. The convention was closed early due to security reasons as rumors of someone possibly sneaking in a gun arosed. It is unknown if Meryl Streep, who was supposed to give a speech after Hillary Clinton, will return for the third night.

Can someone explain why Collins performed well in the South and lost to Rubio in the North?
