If David Duke got elected to either house of Congress, how do Mitch McConnell and/or Paul Ryan cope with having a Klansman in office?

Robert Byrd was in congress for 57 years and it didn't bother any democrat leaders

They would probably question their own life choices having to work with an irrelevant goon from an irrelevant organization who somehow got into Congress.

besides the fact that the 1950ies are not the 2010ers, robert byrd ran as far from his past as he could.

otherwise this is ofc just deflection.

This whole post is ridiculous. It's whole purpose is to tie klansmembers to republicans.

The only Open klansman to serve in the federal legislature is Robert Byrd, and he did so for 57 years, so if we are to talk about the ridiculous klansman in office thing we should mention the only one.

Byrd recognized he was wrong and changed, Duke still continues to be a racist. Just because the Democrats have been historically more racist, that's no defense of the GOP becoming a home it.

Well, Ryan and McConnell seem to be getting along just fine with a fascist in the White House, so why not a racist? They distanced themselves as far away from Trump as possible up until he "won" and then suddenly all that "he's a bad person/candidate" chatter went away. Republicans are becoming more like Democrats in the sense that they have no spine or political courage to stand up to Trump because they fear the wrath of his cult members who are hiding on Twitter waiting to pounce and attacking any cuck/RINO who dares to cross the Dear Leader.

Who has embraced Duke in the GOP? He came in 7th place in the senate campaign, it's completely ludicrous to talk about him getting elected as a republican right now.

Again if we are to talk about the KKK in the federal legislature, than the ONLY OPEN MEMBER to serve should be mentioned.

The Republican establishment will concede to him.
They'll try to normalize him from the image of being a demon. That's the end. They could cope with a Trump administration. Why can't Duke?
Though being a racist, he's popularly elected. They don't have the gut to dispel him. Plus, unlike Hong Kong, there are no legal grounds for the establishment to do so, even if he adds racism believes in his oath of office. They are not CY Leung or the NPC.
