Businessman associated with the Centrist Project

2018 is looking like a great year for independents

LOL. Maybe Cardin will win Calvert County again by splitting the anti-Democratic vote.

Most definitely a safer re-election for Cardin, but what I think will be interesting to see will be Simon’s performance in a state where the GOP is already unpopular

Apparently random independents really like to stop Cardin from cracking 60% of the vote.

Why would "The Centrist Project" feel the need to run someone against Cardin of all people?

I think it’s just more that he wants to run and they’ll support him. This seems to be his own decision, not something pushed by the group, but they’ll support him since he’s affiliated with them

This.

Though Cardin is a pretty reliable party-line vote on everything except for foreign policy because of Maryland's Democratic tilt.

yet he still votes with Trump more than what would be expected based on the leanings of the state according to 538; only 1 of 5 Democrat Senators of the type.

This is also true, which is why I would vote against Cardin in a primary.
