Fun times at Nye Borgerlige.
Yesterday the board expelled the party chairman Lars Boye Mathiesen from the party!
The reasons was that he demanded an additional 55.000 DK kr per month (7400 Euro) as a chairman salary on top of his pay as a MP and that he should be handed sole control of a sum of money (350.000 DK kr (47.000 euro)) that was donated to the party

This leaves NB with only 3 members of parliament, which means that they loose party benefits

Seven opposition parties have made a common statement against the government's ideas. Only Social Liberals and Alternative are not part of this declaration, and even those parties are split. Incredible how Løkke managed to drag the government's position so far to the left on this issue. There must be some polling results on this question soon, and the results will be interesting to see.
I’m not sure EL would consider Løkke to be dragging the government to the left 😁
Especially since both SF and Enhedslisten has been quite clear that they dont support a ban

Not sure if this is the right place to post it, but it has a deep impact in Denmark:

Queen Margrethe II to abdicate from the Throne:

The surprise announcement was made during the Queen's New Year message. The abdication will happen on 14 January 2024. Her son, Prince Frederik, will be the new King.
ff but question is will she keep her queen titles after the 14th or will she becomes a princess like the dutch monarchs?
She will keep her title as Queen of Denmark, just like her mother Ingrid, kept hers after the death of Frederik IX

Venstre MP Mads Fuglede has left the party and joined Danmarksdemokraterne, which means that the government no longer has a majority on its own. It will not tricker an election, because there is no majority against the government, but it will significantly weaken the power of the 3-party government.

Fuglede has been a long time supporter of Inger Støjberg and is also vey much against any CO2-tax, so it isn't that much of a surprice.

Kim Edberg Andersen has also joined Danmarksdemokraterne, chosing the weirdest day to do it, because nobody cares because of Fuglede - but that just shows that Edberg doesn't really know what he is doing...

Danmarksdemokraterne is now the 3th largest party in the parliament, surpassing SF and Moderaterne.
