Looking forward to the timeline! Jerry Litton would have made a decent President and likely would have won in 1988 with up to 332 EVs and 51% of the popular vote. He would have done well in Appalachia, the Ozarks, the Rust Belt, and the rural plains states that experienced the worst parts of the 1970s and 1980s agricultural recession. Jerry Litton would have won Texas as well if Lloyd Bentsen was his running mate. George H.W. Bush I think would have picked up New York however and maybe done a bit better in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Even though he lost to Jerry Litton, John Danforth likely runs against Thomas Eagleton in 1980 and defeats him due to Ronald Reagan’s coattails in Missouri.
