Oh well. I'll take a 5-4 or 5-5! Cheesy

Realistically speaking, England vs Poland is the only interesting game remaining.

It's strange how Ukraine continues piling in useless goals against San Marino...

There's Chile-Ecuador and Argentina-Uruguay, though all four either are already (Argentina) or will be (the rest) going to Brazil.

They're also not on until very late in the night, euro time. I was referring to the games on at current. Smiley

And that's that, I guess?

So the Italy draw supposedly means Switzerland is definitely seeded and Italy now needs either Colombia or Uruguay to not win tonight. Ugh. Is this true? Lewis?

I suppose I should thank Balotelli for making Bulgaria finish fourth - which is better than my original prediction Smiley

Only if they use the FIFA rankings for seedings... which they didn't before 2010.

That's what they're using apparently.

This seeding system blows.

They haven't formally announced it yet.

Paraguay and Uruguay both get early goals, so congrats Phil (so far).

Panama will hopefully beat the USA (and CR beat Mexico), just because it would be hilarious to see Mexico get knocked out tonight.

Suarez with one of the worst dives I've seen in a long time then barely converts the penalty.

Uruguay can't win for Italy to be seeded.

Let me tell you, it's a shame my team has something at sake in all of this and I can't really enjoy the match but Uruguay-Argentina is incredible.

Italy, The Netherlands and England won't be seeded but Switzerland will. Joke!

By the way, as of now, Mexico just barely qualifies for the playoffs. What a day.

So how should they seed things? Curious as to what you'd propose.

I believe past performances were taken into account before and they're clearly not doing that now if Belgium and Colombia have more points.

The U.S. gave their arch rival a spot in the playoffs. If not for those two late U.S. goals, Mexico wouldn't have qualified.

The seeded teams for the group stage are:

1. Brasil (Host)
2. Spain
3. Germany
4. Argentina
5. Colombia
6. Belgium
7. Uruguay
8. Switzerland

Netherlands, Italy and England just miss out.

Pots should look something like this:

Pot A (Seeded teams)
Brasil
Spain
Germany
Argentina
Colombia
Belgium
Uruguay
Switzerland

Pot B (Asia/North America)
Japan
South Korea
Australia
Iran
USA
Costa Rica
Mexico
Honduras

Pot C (Africa/South America)
Chile
Ecuador
Ivory Coast
Nigeria
Cameroon
Ghana
Algeria

Pot D (Europe)
Italy
Netherlands
Russia
Bosnia
England
Croatia
Portugal
Greece
Sweden

One of the teams in Group D will presumably be put in a special pot to ensure that no group has 3 European teams, like they did in 2006.
