Normally, the trade debate in presidential campaigns doesn’t get much more specific than support or opposition for whatever the current or recent trade agreements on the table are. E.g., do you support or oppose TPP? But what we haven’t had recently is an incumbent president who himself is tariff-happy, and not pursuing big new trade pacts. So where does that leave the trade debate among 2020 Dems? Support or opposition for Trump’s tariffs? Will they get more specific than that?
