Not to mention that this is just the current election cycle. 2019 will probably drive a stake through the heart of the VAGOP, after a slew of districts in the HoD are redrawn and it expands the playing field for legislative elections. The first year of a unified Democratic state government will probably lead to a veritable hurricane of pro-voter election reforms, which will have the side effect of expanding the electorate with lower propensity voters (re: Democrats). It also means the maps for the 2020s will be drawn by Democrats. Once Republicans have lost even more seats, their candidate bench will be further reduced to far-right Corey Stewart clones who are unpalatable in statewide elections.
