The Mideast Record-Courier
Good Afternoon, and welcome to the Mideast Record-Courier's live coverage of the February 2015 elections. Over the next several days, as voters in all five regions go to the polls to choose a new batch of public servants, we will be providing semi-regular coverage of the election, so as to keep our readers up-to-date on all that is happening in the hard-and-fast world that is Atlasian politics.

Of course, the most prominent office up for election tonight is the presidency of our Republic, and as such it will be the highlight of our coverage. As the results for president begin to come in, we will color the map below this text in the following manner: maroon for states won by Senator Bore; light blue for states won by Speaker Maxwell; and orange for states won by Assemblyman JCL. In addition, we will be providing updates on the several Senatorial and regional elections taking place over the weekend.
Many thanks,
Harry S Truman, Editor

. Manitoba . New Brunswick .Ontario . Quebec . Nunavut

Key
Maroon for states solidly in the Bore collumn
Red for states currently leaning Bore
Blue for states solidly in the Maxwell collumn
Light Blue for states leaning Maxwell
Orange for states solidly in the JCL collumn
Yellow for states leaning JCL
Green for states that are currently tied

Projections
South: Senate (HAGRID)
Midwest: Senate (TNF)
National: President and Vice President (BORE/ BACON KING)
Northeast: Governor (SAWX)
Northeast: Senate (TALLEYRAND)
Midwest: Governor (GASS3268)
Mideast: Senate (WINDJAMMER)
Pacific: Senate (CRANBERRY)
South: Duke-Glory Days Amendment (PASSED)

In the Midwest Gubernatorial Election, incumbent Governor Gass3268 has taken an early lead. Preliminary results are as follows:

Gass3268 (Lab): 7 (70%)
Foucaulf (Fed): 3 (30%)

Turnout: 31%

While the race is still too early to call, this is certainly good news for Governor Gass. This is a race that Federalists hoped would be competitive in light of the unpopularity of the governor's predecessor, Lebron FitzGerald, also a Laborite; however, it appears that their efforts to tie the governor to the previous administration have been unsuccessful, at least so far.

And now for an update on the status of the Midwest Gubernatorial Election:

Gass3268 (Lab): 9 (69.2%)
Foucaulf (Fed): 4 (30.8%)

Turnout: 38%

While it would be imprudent to call this race quite yet, this is certainly good news for the Labor, with incumbent Governor Gass3268 having strengthened his lead in the past hours. With Labor turning out in high numbers to support their candidate, the question now is whether Foucaulf can successfully unite the non-Labor parties and get them to the polls.

Thank-you to Griffin and Flo for their contributions to this coverage.

The Mideast Record-Courier has the following projections to make:

The Duke-Glory Days Amendment has PASSED the South.

Current Results (32% turnout)
AYE: 8 (100%)
NAY: 0
ABST: 0

The so-far unanimous margin and the fact that we have samplings of all the major parties in the South is enough to indicate that this amendment has enough support to become part of the Southern Constitution.

In the Midwest, Governor Gass3268 has lengthened his lead, with preliminary results as follows:

Gass3268 (Lab): 10 (71.4%)
Foucaulf (Fed): 4 (38.6%)

Turnout: 44%

Interesting to note is the independent vote, which so far is going heavily for Governor Gass3268. As of the latest vote, 100% of independents have cast their ballots for the governor, with 50% turnout for independents regionwide. This is certainly bad news for Mr. Foucaulf, who needs to win the non-Labor vote overwhelmingly if he is to overcome the governor's massive registration advantage.

In the South, the Duke-Glory Days Amendment continues to enjoy unanimous approval. Current tabulations are as follows:

AYE: 10 (100%)
NAY: 0
ABST: 0

Turnout: 40%

The Mideast Record Courier has projected that this amendment has passed the South. Special thanks to Flo for his assistance in covering this referendum.

With the federal voting booth set to open in a few hours, it is interesting to review some of the most recent polls of the presidential race.

ME R-C:   Bore (48.8%) Maxwell (34.1%) JCL (12.2%)
Magnolia: Bore (42.6%) Maxwell (38.9%) JCL (13.0%)
End. In:   Bore (50.0%) Maxwell (44.4%)

While the race has obviously narrowed since the exit of Potus2036, Senator Bore still maintains a lead going into the election, albeit a slim one. Of course, the accuracy of Atlasian polling is always somewhat suspect, but it's the fact that these polls are more or less in agreement should certainly give heart to the Bore campaign.

We now bring you an update on the status of the Midwest Gubernatorial Election.

Gass3268 (Lab): 11 (73.3%)
Foucaulf (Fed): 4 (26.7%)

Turnout: 47%

With the latest vote, Governor Gass3268 continues to expand his lead, now claiming nearly three quarters of the vote. Especially noteworthy is that the most recent voter is not a member of the Labor Party, a sign that the governor has been able to expand his appeal to center-left voters outside of his own caucus. That's good news for him, but bad news for his opponent, who needs an overwhelming margin among non-Labor voters to win this election. As we approach the halfway mark in voter turnout, he is running out of time to do so.

The polls are now officially open, and as such we have the following projections to make:

The State of Delaware has been called for Senator Bore
The Province of Nunavut has been called for Speaker Maxwell
The State of Alabama has been called for Speaker Maxwell
The State of Arkansas has been called for Speaker Maxwell
The State of New Mexico has been called for Speaker Maxwell

The following states are too close to call at this hour: Virginia, Indiana, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, New York, Mississippi, and Hawaii.

In the popular vote, Senator Bore current leads by two votes over Speaker Maxwell, with Assemblyman JCL well behind. The current tabulations are:

Bore (Lab): 8 (50.0%)
Maxwell (DR): 6 (37.5%)
JCL (Fed): 1 (6.3%)
Other: 1 (6.3%)

Turnout: 9%
