I still choose not to date right now.  Fact is, women are expensive!  Without a job right now, it would be hard to support her.  If I did have a job, I would have no time to spend with her.  So, for the lady's sake, I am refraining and when I do start looking, I'll keep it close to my age.

What the heck makes you think you need to support someone?  Dating doesn't mean supporting anyone.  Heck, I didn't even pay for their meals/drinks when I was dating in the US..  even if you do that, its just buy a $20 meal once a week or something like that.

What? You do realize you are not obligated to support a woman if you are dating her, correct? And you should not get engaged to someone after a few days of meeting them. Duke, I come from a VERY old-fashioned family.  When I take girls on dates, it is within how I was raised to pay for their meal or movie ticket or whatever the event happens to be.  I was also raised to open EVERY door for the lady except the Women's Restroom.  In my family, the man pays for EVERYTHING and the woman pays for NOTHING unless it is wedding preparation (which is mostly funded by the bride's family).  Now, I was not raised to get engaged 3 weeks after we meet.  That is where I overstepped the bounds.  By supporting her, I mean paying for her end of the date, even if its just meeting for lunch at McDonald's all the way up to a high dollar movie.  I still follow dating rules of my grandmother's dating years (early 1940's).  I will keep those protocols until the day I die.  I would rather be rejected for being too much of a gentleman than to have any hint of non-gentleman protocols (from a 1930's and 1940's perspective).

Paying for dates is one thing. I still do that most of the time. The only time I didn't was when I was with my long time ex of two years. She would pay for half of the bill if we went out to a super expensive place and always paid for half of the hotel room if we took a trip.

I get what you're saying, but dates =/ supporting them. You can pay for their date, but that doesn't mean you have to pay her bills, insurance, etc..

Your time is running out. For your sake (and the sake of all of us), I encourage you to at least look. Your parents are supporting you in all these endeavors. I am sure they would support you finding a girl who will make you a better man.

no, I would have had we gotten married.  Lord knew what He was doing when He split us up. She would've been great from a personal standpoint, but I couldn't get past her medicine or her mother.  Talk about war of the in-laws!

Bushie needs to find a modern lady who believes that men and women are equal, has her own job and income, and insists on paying for her food and movie tickets (unless it's a special occasion/gift or something). Also if she's a vegetarian as well that would be helpful for his weight problem.

You hit the nail on the head, Lief, on most of your statement.  The lady has to either have a job or pursuing an education to get a job (like me), she has to be able to drive.  I would rather not have a vegetarian, although that's a very minor issue in my book.  I can adapt, albeit grudgingly, to whatever cuisine she enjoys.

But yes, you need a woman who isn't an invalid, although my hopes of that happening aren't too high considering the religious aspect you'll demand. Most highly religious types don't believe women should do anything but have kids and stay at home. Just look at your view on dating! Imagine if the girl had a brain and offered to share the expenses! After the first few dates, you shouldn't have to buy every meal and movie ticket!

Speaking as a vegetarian, I once had to spend a few weeks out in rural New Mexico. Let me tell you, living on cheese-lettuce-bread "sandwiches" every day gets old real fast. And you don't actually lose weight as you might think, since the only stuff without meat is bread and chips.

It depends on the state. Some states have exceptions for acts between minors, but others do not; in California, for instance, 18 is the absolute minimum age.
