The year is 2008.  For some reason (make up one) abortion is no longer an issue (or at least as much of one).  Who do you envision getting the parties nominations?

The same as if abortion was still a big issue because pro-choice Republicans tend to be moderate on other issues as well and still too moderate to win the nomination and vice-versa for pro-life Democrats.

He's also pro-civil unions and pro-gun control. He could only win the nomination if for whatever reason social issues were thrown out the window altogether.

Rudi would definatley get it.  Despite the pro-choice position, Rudi has been welcomed down here several times for fundraisers and even appeared in an ad for Republican Gubenatorial candidate Van Hilleary.
